Help us to discover the flora and fauna of the Burslem Branch Canal!
Do you know your ragged robin from your red campion?
If you can identify a butterfly or mushroom, enjoy some casual bird spotting, or just want to learn more about the incredible nature hiding in plain sight, join us for our first nature walk of the Burslem Branch Canal.

Dear all,
It's only been a couple of weeks since I was last in touch, but as we get up and going things are moving more quickly so I have another update, which I hope will be of particular interest for those of you who are thinking about volunteering with us.

Dear all,
It is good to be able to finally report with certainty that our volunteer activities are to resume, in just a couple of days. This is quite a long update, but there is a lot of information to share with you.

Dear all,
It has been some time since we were last in touch! Despite the confusion of the last year, I am excited to be able to deliver some positive news and updates. Throughout lockdown, BPT have been working with Moss Naylor Young on practical steps towards restoring the Burslem Branch Canal. These steps include bids for funding to restore more of the canal and create community resources from the historic canal buildings, including the Wharf and Warehouse.

In the past few months there has been very significant progress with our project. The most significant development has been the acquisition of the former Co-op bakery site by developers Eden Valley Property.

Dear all
It feels like it has been some time since I was last in touch but I'm happy to say that after the usual summer break our work parties will get going again next Tuesday. We will have plenty of tidying up to do across the site, not least because on the following Saturday a number of visitors from the Inland Waterways Association, whose AGM is in Stoke over the weekend, will be on a tour around the site, which I will be leading. It is a good opportunity to tell people about our project and I'd like to get the site looking as good as we can for our visitors.

Dear all
Firstly, thanks to those who came to our rearranged work party last month. I don't like to change things at short notice but we had so much to do it made sense on this occasion and we achieved what we wanted to.

Dear all
Thanks to everyone who came to our work party last month. We had a number of new faces and made great progress with preparing parts of the site for the Footsteps project to begin later this year. In many ways this is the best time of year to be on site as the vegetation we have cleared over the winter has not yet regrown so it is easy to see what progress has been made.

Dear all
It has been a really exciting week for us at Burslem Port, with the announcement on Monday of a new footpath and publication of a new strategic action plan. This update is longer than usual, but I hope you find it all interesting.
