Middleport canal cleanup

  1. Home

Wed, 04/02/2015 - 13:27 by Steve

Join us for a work party to improve the Trent & Mersey Canal through Stoke-on-Trent for everyone, by litter picking along the towpath and removing rubbish from the canal. Meet on Sunday 8th February 2015 10am at Middleport Pottery, Port Street, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, ST6 3PE.

The signing in/meeting point will be on the canalside wharf by the Middleport Pottery Café, for a health and safety induction and issuing of equipment. Volunteers will then work along the towpath in both directions from Bridge 125. We will be working until 3pm. Parking available in the car parks off Travers Street or on Travers Street itself.

Volunteers are advised to wear stout footwear and old clothes, and to bring waterproofs in case of rain. Hot drinks will be provided, and volunteers can either bring their own packed lunch or purchase food from the Middleport Pottery Café.

For further information contact: Alison Smedley, IWA Branch Campaign Officer 07779 090915 | alison.smedley@waterways.org.uk www.waterways.org.uk.

This activity has been organised by Inland Waterways Association in association with Canal & River Trust, Burslem Port Trust, Trent & Mersey Canal Society and Middleport Pottery.
