Historic view towards Burslem

The Trust seeks to reopen the Burslem Branch Canal, creating new waterside facilities to deliver sustainable leisure, tourism and thus employment.

We aim to make a major difference to the quality of life in Burslem and Middleport through a major regeneration project which will extend from Rogerson’s Meadows and the Trent and Mersey Canal to Furlong Mills in lower Burslem.

The completed project will deliver the re-opened Canal Branch, a mooring basin in a newly constructed pool at Furlong Mills, recreational facilities in the heritage buildings on the historic wharf, and outdoor/sporting activities along the canal side.

It will provide a high-quality canalside setting for the residential redevelopment sites.
